Tru-Fit is the North American branch of what is known in Europe as Lutterloh System, a pattern drafting supplier founded in Germany in the 1930s. Sure Fit Designs is a separate company based on the same concept. Beware that Tru-Fit has a record of failure to ship Internet purchases. Lutterloh and Sure-Fit may provide reliable shipping, but we feel that all three brands push overpriced sets of drafting supplies and design templates that require extensive work to turn into well-fitting patterns. Fans of the method exist, but most aspiring patternmakers find that their money and time is more successfully spent drafting patterns from scratch with the aid of a textbook or purchasing prepared patterns and altering them as desired.

Tru-Fit Fraud
I placed an order with Tru-Fit Patterns and never received my item. I received a confirmation email and a receipt email, and the money was withdrawn from my account the very next business day. After 2 weeks and no delivery, I emailed . . . no reply. I called many times; but no one answered, and there was no answering machine to leave a message. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and found others who had the same experience. Please do not order from Tru-Fit Patterns. They are a fraudulent company.
I came across Sure Fit Designs as I was investigating Tru-Fit Patterns. I'm so happy to have found Sure Fit Designs!

Tru-Fit in Question
Erica, your report is the first I've heard of online orders not being filled. Products are available for purchase in fabric stores where seminars are held, so surely purchasing products in person would be a reliable process. My main concern is that the products are presented in a way as to lead purchasers to think that using them is easy. In reality, creating a pattern with the Tru-Fit system (or Lutterloh or Sure Fit) is complex and time-consuming. My opinion is that your money is better spent pursuing other types of pattern resources.

Same Problem
Same thing happened to me. I ordered the Advanced Guide on January 20th, and as of today I had not received my product having paid that day. After numerous calls and emails I still did not get my book. They promised shipment, having spoken to someone and still no book. I finally gave up and went back to my bank, filed a claim and I got my money back. I would suggest staying clear of any internet purchases. Take a look at BBB and see for yourself that this is NOT an isolated incident.

Tru-Fit Order
I placed an order from home after a Hancock seminar several months ago and received the tools well in advance of the estimated delivery. The Tru-Fit method does take commitment and time to learn but the sewing curves and other tools can be used for any project or alterations. Anyone who sews quite a bit would save time, energy and fabric after the initial investment in learning the method. The free seminar was well worth the time.
