Modest sewing pattern and clothing resources for women -

Welcome, sewing pattern enthusiasts! Things have been busy in 2014 at the home office of Fashion Belle. I had hoped that the launch of my sewing patterns for women would occur by early fall, but so far the work is still in progress. Half of this year has been taken with contract employment with other companies, and beyond that most of my spare time has been donated to unexpected home repairs and aiding 14 refugees who were settling in my area. Please keep checking back for progress on the pattern collection, and also use the tabs above to explore reviews of hundreds of other companies that provide modest clothing and sewing patterns.

Believe That All Things Are Possible

Who would believe that Iby's pattern would end up in Vogue
- Iby Abraham

This Vogue sewing pattern, autographed by the original patternmaker, has a fascinating story behind it that should inspire all fashion entrepreneurs that anything is possible. In May 2007, I was a recent fashion design college graduate, and starting the Fashion Belle pattern business was still a distant dream when the following ad appeared in Women's Wear Daily:

Comparing Rural Areas to Big Cities for Fashion Business Locations

New York City view from Empire State Building, and a country scene with horse riders, views from fashion business regions

These photos have one thing in common. I took them both on working days as an apparel patternmaker. The upper photo is from the Empire State Building looking toward south Manhattan in New York City, in view of a couture design room where I worked. The lower photo was taken from a front window of my home in the rural Western United States, just steps away from my home office where I am starting a business publishing patterns after having gained experience with other companies in various sizes of communities.

Making Strapless Dresses Modest with T-Shirts

Chiffon strapless dress worn with a t-shirt, Women's Wear Daily photo, September 5, 2006

Images from Women's Wear Daily, September 5, 2006. Some women exist, usually in the teen age range, who claim to prefer modesty yet are distressed over not being able to wear the strapless styles that cover the floors of juniors' stores and bridal salons. For these girls, offering options for modesty with strapless dresses is better than leaving them succumb to immature decisions of choosing strapless dresses worn with no alterations to conform to society's concept of style rather than the value of modesty.
